About Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies
Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee has been named one of the best aquariums in the United States.
This wonderful aquarium offers many ways to see and interact with many forms of marine life including all of the follow:
A place to view and experience many fish and ocean creatures including schooling fish that swim in large groups.
Possibly the most exciting exhibit in Ripley’s Aquarium is Shark Lagoon. Travel on a moving 340-foot long glidepath as you wind your way through an underwater tunnel and come face-to-face with snappers, tarpons, grunts, green sea turtles, stingrays, and very large sharks!
Touch a Ray Bay
In this shallow lagoon, guests can reach out and touch rays as they glide by.
In the Tropical Rainforest exhibit, you will get up close and personal with piranhas, arapaima, anableps, and poisonous dart frogs found only in the tropical rainforests.
Children love the Coral Reef section of the aquarium. This is where they can look for Nemo and Dori! This colorful exhibit features clown triggerfish, blue tangs, clownfish, butterflyfish, and coral specimens. Additionally, dive shows regularly occur in this tank.
This completely interactive exhibit allow you to touch live horseshoe crabs and jelly fish, as well as, learn more about the aquariums inhabitants.
Gallery of the Seas
Gallery of the Seas is a wonderful exhibit showcasing the strange and unusual. Here you can view cuttlefish, octopus, jelly fish, spider crabs, and more!
Sting Ray Bay
Experience the beauty of Sting Rays gliding by as they relish the spotlight. Here you can view cownose rays, spotted eagle rays, and southern rays.
There’s nothing more adorable at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies than the penguins! At Penguin Playhouse, you can see these amazing birds in their huge indoor and outdoor habitat.
