4,325 Scarecrows Take Over Gatlinburg

How many scarecrows does it take to break a Guinness World Record? Gatlinburg thinks that 4,325 will do the trick.

The Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau recently set out to break the previous record of 3,812 scarecrows held by National Forest Adventure Farm in the United Kingdom.

After all of the scarecrows were counted, the total tallied 4,325 in Gatlinburg, eclipsing the old record by 513. The number is enough to break the Guinness World Record, but Gatlinburg will have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for confirmation from Guinness officials.

To beat the record, all of the scarecrows must have human facial features and all of them must be located in the walkable area of downtown Gatlinburg.
