The Smoky Mountains are known for a lot of amazing qualities: beautiful views, breathtaking nature experiences, and unforgettable attractions make this place one of the most unique destinations in the world. One of the area’s best qualities, though, is its vast options of cuisine and food choices. Being one of the world’s most popular vacation destinations gives way for a lot of different and unique options in the Smokies, and we’re going to take a look at some of the hidden gems of great food in our area.

Frank Allen’s Market & Grill

Frank Allen’s Market and Grill is a local staple of Sevier County and the Great Smoky Mountains. Opened in 1953, the local grill has been offering classic food choices to thousands of visitors for decades. Dolly Parton has personally tried the slaw dogs here, and she’s a huge fan. Frank Allen’s takes pride in never using frozen meat, and always choosing the freshest ingredients to bring the best quality food to their customers. They serve up breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day. Head to Forks of the River Parkway in Sevierville to taste what have been voted Sevier County’s best burgers for over 7 years!

Grillbillies BBQ

Bringing fresh-smoked, North Carolina style barbecue to the Smokies since 2009, Grillbillies is sure to be an unforgettable stop when visiting the Smoky Mountains. Located at Smoky Mountain Knife Works under the South Porch, this is the perfect place to stop for a quick and delicious lunch. Cool off with an ice cold drink or grab some ice cream in the summer, or even have a warm cup of coffee when it’s cold out. Having served thousands, Grillbillies’ vinegar-based barbecue sauce is a staple of authentic Smoky Mountain barbecue flavor. Don’t miss out on this great spot to eat.

Nino’s Pizzeria & Eatery

Nino’s Pizzeria was started in 2014 with a mission to serve authentic Italian food in the Smoky Mountains. The name comes from the Italian word “nino,” meaning little boy, and was derived from owner Jerry Maltese’s grandparents’ calling of Jerry’s father “nino” as a child. Located in Sevierville on Long Springs Rd., you can find authentically prepared pizza, lasagna, and even cheesecake to satisfy your hunger. See why this is an absolute local favorite in the Great Smoky Mountains on your visit.

Smokies Cuban Cafe

Located directly on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge near stoplight #7/#8, Smokies Cuban Cafe has been serving authentic Cuban cuisine for over 6 years in the Smoky Mountains.  This newly remodeled establishment serves up authentic Cuban sandwiches, steak sandwiches, and delicious Cuban-style coffee. The owners come straight from Miami, and know exactly how to make your experience here as authentic and delicious as possible. Be sure to stop by today and experience one of the most unique and best dining experiences in the Smokies.

Friendly Falls

Perhaps one of the most unique things to see in the Smokies, Friendly Falls offers great snacks and activities that will leave you far from disappointed! Whether you’ve had a long day hiking and want to relax, or if you’re looking for a unique place to unwind, Friendly Falls has everything you need to experience relaxation and comfort in the Smoky Mountains. Grab something delicious to eat, such as local smoked trout, or delicious nachos. Vegetarian options are also available, as well as ice cold drinks. In addition to the wonderful food, Friendly Falls has its very own gem mining experience, a souvenir shop featuring unique gems, stones, and other items, plus its own waterfall! You can find Friendly Falls on Wears Valley Rd. in Pigeon Forge. Be sure to stop by today to see what makes this place so unique!

Preacher’s Smokehouse

Preacher’s Smokehouse is a newer addition to the many places to eat around here, opening in April 2017. Owner/Operator Sam Steele started out by serving others through ministry for over 5 years. When the November 2016 wildfires occurred, Sam and his ministry were one of the first to act in response, cooking meals for the volunteers of the local Rescue Squad. After that, it was only natural to continue serving many others in the area by way of opening a quality establishment that families could get together at and enjoy great food. You’ll find quality meats and delicious sides here (the ribs have already stolen the hearts of many locals). Visit them on Pittman Center Rd. near the intersection of Birds Creek Rd. to experience it yourself!
