5 Can't-Miss Activities for Your Pigeon Forge December Vacation

Crisp air, bright lights, and a festive feeling–that’s Pigeon Forge in winter! Plan a December vacation here, including these unmissable outings.

1. Winterfest Light Displays

Holiday lights sparkle all month long, turning the simplest drive into a glittering journey. Look for the Twelve Days of Christmas brought to life in the center of the Parkway. Patriot Park’s displays pay tribute to the armed services. Check out the Parkway bridges draped in sparkling colors.

For 2022, Pigeon Forge unveils the new Wonders of Light Walking Trail! See 20 magical displays where Smoky Mountains animals come to life, flowers dance, and snowflakes shimmer.

2. Dollywood’s Smoky Mountain Christmas

Dollywood unwraps songs to warm your heart and treats to warm your belly. New this year, the Dollywood Express train whisks you on a tour of the park’s lights. Visit Glacier Ridge and help Polar Bears trek to the Smokies to meet Black Bears. Stop in Santa’s Village for a peek at the jolly old elf. Sing carols as fireworks light up the sky on weekends.

Family favorite shows “Christmas in the Smokies” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” join dozens more performances to surround you with festive tunes.

3. Christmas at The Island

The Island is Pigeon Forge’s destination for attractions and shopping. The Island’s Winterfest Show features the illuminated, dancing waters of the show fountain choreographed to music, with giant Christmas trees joining the animated display. This breathtaking show takes place four times a night in December.

Hop aboard the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel for an unbeatable nighttime view of Pigeon Forge blazing with holiday colors. At the top of this Ferris wheel, you’re on the roof of a 20-story building!

4. Holiday Shows

A Pigeon Forge December vacation isn’t complete until you see a dazzling stage show! Live nativity plays, beloved holiday songs, dance numbers, and festive comedy fill stages all over town. Book now for performances at The Comedy Barn, Biblical Times Dinner Theater, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, Country Tonite, and more.

5. Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

This drive-through light display is a local tradition, and for 2022, expect a wild new theme: Safari with Santa! Custom-built displays dance to music broadcast to your car’s radio. Santa and the elves celebrate with giraffes, elephants, hippos, and animal friends. Shadrack’s safari is open daily all month.
