Easy Pigeon Forge Family Trails

Joggers, casual walkers, or families with young kids can try these level, in-town trails.

  • Pigeon Forge Riverwalk. This paved, easy trail follows the Little Pigeon River and runs 2.7 miles round trip. One end of the trail is at the Old Mill, where you can enjoy restaurants, shops, and an ice cream parlor.
  • Sevierville Greenway. A 2-mile loop along another section of the river, the Greenway is easy, level, and paved. Check out a nearby feature, Burchfiel Grove and Arboretum, a collection of trees planted along a riverside path.
  • Wear Farm City Park Loop. For a quick, kid-friendly stroll, take this 1.2-mile, easy trail. The trail circles a park with two playgrounds and a picnic pavilion, making it a great outing for the younger set.

Easy to Moderate Pigeon Forge Hikes

When you stay at a Pigeon Forge vacation cabin, you’re never far from national park trails with scenic destinations including these.

  • Laurel Falls Trail. The moderately difficult trail leads to a waterfall where an upper waterfall splits into many smaller cascades. Laurel Falls gets crowded, so choose an early morning, weekday start for the 2.6-mile, round-trip trek.
  • Grotto Falls via Trillium Gap Trail. There’s a longer Trillium Gap hike, but to visit gorgeous Grotto Falls, hike a 2.6-mile, moderately difficult section of the trail. This is the only spot in the Smokies where you can walk behind a waterfall’s crashing cascade!
  • Porters Creek Trail. If you like history with your hikes, try this moderate, 4-mile round-trip trail. Its lower elevation makes it a good option when the weather closes trails at higher elevations. Visit an abandoned farm, ruins of settlers’ dwellings, and the wildflowers for which Porters Creek is famous.

For Serious Pigeon Forge Hikers

Chimney Tops Trail. This trail is only 3.5 miles round trip but is rated “steep and strenuous” by the park service. Cross streams, clamber up rocky inclines, and follow a ridgeline for the payoff of spectacular mountain views. This trail can take most of the day, so begin your hike early.

Reserve a Pigeon Forge vacation cabin now and bring your boots and backpack to enjoy the best hiking in the Smokies!
