Hallow Mountain at Anakeesta

The Legend of Hallow Mountain at Anakeesta in Gatlinburg

Visit Anakeesta from September 13 through November 2 for a thrilling and chilling experience that you will never forget!

Anakeesta was a hallowed ground where souls of the dead would be given freedom and transformed into fireflies whose lights would join the ancestors and provide a path for future souls to follow. 100 years ago, the tranquility of this sacred place was disturbed when the Appalachian settlers came, building several homes and establishing graveyards.  Hallow Mountain was desecrated. The tormented souls of the settlers buried here would never rest. Each year, during the harvest moon, the lost souls of these settlers become the undead, rising from their graves, searching for a way off of this sacred Hallow Mountain. Today, those firefly souls of the ancient settlers still prevent the suffering undead from leaving the Hallow Mountain. Will these fireflies keep you from leaving Anakeesta’s Hallow Mountain? Do you dare to attempt to enter?  Will you be able to survive the night on Hallow Mountain?
