8 Romantic Itinerary Ideas for Couples Visiting Gatlinburg

When sweethearts escape to Gatlinburg, they’ll never run out of romantic things to do. We’ve created a fun-filled day for couples here in the Smoky Mountains, from breakfast until late at night.

1. Rise and shine.

Enjoy breakfast in your cozy cabin for two. Linger a little–this schedule is flexible! Fix a picnic and head out the door.

2. Morning: Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Drive on scenic Newfound Gap Road and stop at Balsam Point Quiet Walkway. The park’s Quiet Walkways are less crowded, serene, easy trails, accessible from main roads. Take plenty of selfies and steal a few kisses!

3. Lunch: A riverside picnic.

Follow Newfound Gap Road to Chimneys picnic area. Dozens of picnic tables perch next to the Little Pigeon River, shaded by the surrounding forest. Unpack your delicious treats and enjoy each other’s company.

4. Afternoon: Make new memories.

Visit Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. Pet a ray, pop into the penguins’ frosty world, or take a glass-bottomed boat while sharks circle below. Prefer pop culture to penguins? Try the Hollywood Star Cars Museum and take each others’ photos with the Batmobile, cars from “The Fast and the Furious” and more.

5. Late afternoon: Moonshine tasting.

No need to find a backwoods still, just stroll down The Strip and find a distillery! Expert servers teach you about moonshine’s many flavors. Take your favorite ‘shine back to your cabin for later.

6. Dinner: The Melting Pot.

Fondue makes a fun, flirty, memorable meal. The Melting Pot’s entrees and desserts are an event in themselves, but why not kick the romance into high gear? Splurge on the Ultimate Package: A four-course meal, wine or champagne, a half-dozen roses, and a table adorned with rose petals.

7. Evening: Impossibilities!

Take in a unique show you can’t see back home. The Iris Theater’s “Impossibilities” will astound you with magic and mind-reading. Mentalist Erik Dobell promises jaw-dropping feats. When you leave the theater, look up: You’re already at your last delightful destination, the Space Needle!

8. Late Night: Gatlinburg Space Needle.

End the day on the observation deck of this iconic tower. You’re 400 feet in the air, with Gatlinburg nightlife below you and constellations sparkling overhead.

Back at your Gatlinburg cabin, light a fire, and talk about your amazing day. You can sleep late tomorrow! Reserve a romantic cabin today and start planning your getaway.
